They left abusive marriages. But under Jewish law, they were still not free. Getting Free is a six-episode limited series sharing the firsthand stories of five women whose abusive husbands denied them a Jewish divorce, known as a gett, to keep controlling them long after the relationship was over.

Our team spent more than a year working on this project with the International Beit Din, a Jewish court created to free women from these marriages. We conducted interviews, wrote every script, and worked with host Rabbanit Leah Sarna to record the narration. Nat Hardy composed original music and mixed the entire series.

It’s rare that we see the impact of the work that we do, but the International Beit Din tells us that they’ve seen a huge uptick in women coming to them for help since the release of this podcast. So much so, they’ve had to hire more staff. We’re thankful for the opportunity to speak out against domestic violence and connect women with help.
