Ask Rhode Islanders how they shop for health insurance

HealthSource RI, Rhode Island’s health insurance exchange, created new opportunities for Rhode Islanders to compare and purchase health insurance. To gauge the needs and preferences of HealthSource RI’s potential customers, The MHC group conducted and analyzed the results of 12 listening sessions with residents across the state.

Participants included farmers, artists, bus drivers, unemployed Rhode Islanders, nannies and college students.

HealthSource RI used the results of the listening sessions to shape outreach efforts, alter the design of its online application, and set priorities for future technology changes.

Talk to small group doctors about Patient Centered Medical Homes

The Rhode Island Office of the Health Insurance Commissioner (OHIC) is committed to increasing the number of physician practices that become Patient Centered Medical Homes (PCMHs). Patient Centered Medical Homes use patient data and a team approach to encourage preventive care and manage patients with chronic health conditions.

OHIC is particularly interested in how to motivate small group physician practices to become PCHMs.

The MHC Group worked with The Providence Plan to develop and facilitate three focus groups with Rhode Island physicians from small group practices and presented the results to OHIC’s Care Transformation Advisory Committee in October of 2015.
